Hi! I’m about to embark on a English literature research project on Southeast Asian literature and I wanted to focus on representations of pre-colonial Singapore in literature, but I’m having a bit of difficulty finding books 🙁 Just wondering if anyone here has any book recommendations? Doesn’t need to be related to pre-colonial Singapore either, can be related to other pre-colonial Southeast Asian states too! Also, doesn’t need to be a whole novel, can be short stories as well 😀
Alternatively, please suggest books/short stories with instances of Southeast Asia that have elements of feminine monstrosity (preferably related to Southeast Asian lore and myths). Will be using this topic if I can’t find any pre-colonial representations of SEA. Thanks!
P.s don’t suggest The Gatekeeper or Durga/Umayi, I’ve studied these before and I’m looking for something new 🙂

Oh my goodness! Pick this indie author- it is fantasy but deals with Muslim, Hindu and Buddhist lore.
