I just finished Red Mars. It was rather boring with endless descriptions of martian landscapes. The characters all seemed pretty two dimensional. Does the rest of the trilogy get any better?

Are their other books about terraforming other planets that are more engaging? I’ve read Children of Time and all of Bobiverse and enjoyed those.

The Expanse touches on the near-impossibility of terraforming Mars but it’s more of an overarching political background than a plot you see up close.

I’ve always stopped a series the moment one installment fell flat. Let it age and grow on you or forget it. There really is plenty out there to read to not submit to sunken cost fallacy
