Hi! Looking for a book similar to Last Light by Kirsten Leigh or The Sharing Knife by Lois Mcmaster Bujold. I really love the gruff\stoic older man who is actually a secret sweetheart/insecure and falls for a younger FL. Would be happy with fantasy elements or without. I did like the apocalypse setting in Last Light. Bonus points if he’s not conventionally attractive too. Would really love a good dynamic between the FL and ML that’s slowburn. Thank you!

You might try Venetia by Georgette Heyer. It isn’t exactly the same dynamic as The Sharing Knife, but it has a number of similarities.
