Pretty much anything by him will be a fun, punchy story about gritty heroes fighting the hopeless battle to be good. There will be a fight where somebody is beat, but refuses to stay down. Good will triumph, but at a cost. The men will be Heroes, the women will be Heroic Girlfriends (it’s not the most feminist writing in the world, but I don’t always need that from my books). But to be an ornery feminist though, the Troy series >!involves a woman having sex with an unconscious man, and Gemmell doesn’t seem to recognize it as rape!<, so avoid that series if romanticized sexual assault is triggering for you. The Legend of Deathwalker has a minor character who’s a >!redeemed rapist!< which is also problematic.

I love David Gemmell for travel books.
