I’m not sure if I am explaining this well – but I’m looking for Sapphic romance books that aren’t *only* focused on the romance. I always thought that I *hated* romance books but I’ve read a few now that have had a main driving plot but undercurrents of Sapphic romance and I’ve found that I really like them!
Genre-wise I’m open to anything that isn’t just a straight romance.
I’ve read/have:
The Seven Husband’s of Evelyn Hugo(read)
The Daughters of Izdihar (currently reading)
Priory of the Orange Tree (own, haven’t read)

*Light From Uncommon Stars* by Ryka Aoki? It has romance (and between two older women, at that!) but it is not the main plot and mostly happens behind the scenes.
(TW >!transphobia – not as in the book is transphobic, but one character is a trans girl facing a lot of hate in her daily life!<)
If you like fantasy and a slower paced cozy vibe you could try Legends and Lattes by Travis Baldree. Two ladies fall for each other but it’s very much not the point of the book.
Another fantasy book is The Ruthless Lady’s Guide to Wizardry by CM Waggoner. The romance is a little more central but also not the main plot of the story. It is technically second in a series but can definitely be read alone. (Sidenote: the first in the series is actually my favorite of the two but it does not have Sapphic romance. I usually prefer queer relationships but I found myself falling for the non-traditional het couple in the book.)
Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir (fair warning, this is a very confusing series and the 2nd and 3rd books have a very different tone from the first)
This is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar

**Teixcalaan** duology by Arkady Martine
If you enjoy a good enemies-to-lovers storyline, ‘The Hating Game’ by Sally Thorne is a book I recommend for its witty banter and electric chemistry between the characters. It’s a delightful and sexy rom-com that will keep you smiling long after you’ve turned the last page.
