I’ve only read one China Mieville book, the City and the City, but it took me the whole book to wrap my head around the concept. I’ve never read anything quite like it. And my understanding is it’s not even his weirdest book.

One of my all time favorites is The People of Paper by Salvador Plascencia. I haven’t read any on the list you requested provided, but dang is it weird and cool.

For true crime read anything on Albert Fish. Can’t get weirder than that monster.
Afro Puffs are the Antenna of the Universe by Zig Zag Claybourne. Sci-fi, has 9-foot elves that live under the Sahara Desert, a hellbilly, a machine goddess, a telepathic octopus…

Weird but not disturbing – Several People are Typing. A cameo by Clippy, Microsoft’s office assistant, was just the icing on the cake.
