I just finished Pachinko by Min Jin Lee and have no idea what to do with myself. I need another long, sweeping novel.

I’ve already read and loved Demon Copperhead. I considered reading the Dickens next (David Copperfield), but my library’s copy is falling apart and the print is too small. I’ll probably purchase a nice copy when my wallet isn’t so tight.

I also put a hold on the Covenant of Water, but who knows when that will get in.

I’ve read nearly everything by Ann Patchett.

I thought about trying Tolstoy or some other classics but it’s just not exciting me right now. I want something fresh.

    Thank you!

    1. Commented just to say I burst out laughing at ‘Book Emergency’ – relatable lol.

We seem to have rather different taste in books and so these mightn’t be contemporary, epic or litficcy enough to scratch your itch, or you may have read them, but perhaps *A Suitable Boy* by Vikram Seth or *Doc* by Mary Doria Russell?

Not a sweeping multigen novel, but the last literary fiction I read and liked was The Days Toppled Over by Vidya Madabushi, if that helps any.

I wasn’t terribly keen on A Council of Dolls by Mona Susan Power, but it may be to your taste.

Something like Rohinton Mistry may be what you are after.
