I’ve been intro reading books lately and I’ve been interested in kinda twisted books like The Secret Life by Jonathan Hart if you have any suggestion something like this, that would help
The darkest thing I’ve read is **Marabou Stork Nightmares**. It’s absolutely sick and twisted and amazing and will make your jaw drop by the end. You HAVE to read it though, rather than listen to the audiobook, since it is an experimental novel and plays with formatting which adds to the atmosphere SO MUCH.
Have to mention that it is written in a Scottish accent, so it might take a couple of pages to get used to it. You gotta imagine what it sounds like in your head.
A runner-up is **Infinite Jest**. I have to say that books don’t trigger me, like at all. Never. A Little Life was a breeze for me. But IJ had this one chapter which made me literally sick to my stomach (for those that know- Raquel = ‘it’). Generally, it was so bleak that it made me lose hope in humanity for a little while. It’s breathtaking- if you have the patience to get through it.
