I’ve just come to terms with the fact these are one of my favourite most compelling genre of novels.

As a kid, of course, I adored The Hatchet.

Alone on the History Channel is one of my favourite TV shows to throw on.

I love video games about basic, solitary survival (shelter, food and solitude)

Now am reading I Am Still Alive by Kate Marshall and am already thinking ahead to when I finish it, I want to stay in the wilderness survival zone.

Fiction or non-fiction, audio or text, lay it on me! Bonus if I learn survival skills from it for myself 😜

I’m currently a third of the way through Lauren Groff’s *The Vaster Wilds* and so far it is completely about survival in the wilderness and being alone. Not sure how the rest will play out but if you want your ‘alone in the wilderness’ to come with some, like, 1700s colonialism, this might be the book for you.

Warning: so this book is bleak af. Harsh. Stark. But great.
